I finally got my pictures from friends who agreed at once on my wish to visit Dubare Elephant Camp. This Dubare elephant camp is situated on the banks of River Kaveri in the Kodagu district of Karnataka in India. The park is not just known for the elephants but also the activities like River Rafting. But what made me jump with joy on this idea was to give a bath to elephants. (Still can’t stop my smile recalling the moments).
I have been a die hard fan of elephants since a I was a young because somehow I find them intriguing at first glance. They are the gentle giants with a perfect balance of attentiveness and aggressiveness. They are also known for their social skills and for having a lifelong relationship with their mahouts. I remember when I was a kid, my father had got a beautiful picture of an elephant with her baby framed. It hung on our wall and was appreciated by all.
I remember fondly organizing my jewellery where I have earrings and necklace in elephant-shaped designs. My friends often tease me asking what other animals do I have in my jewellery collection and to their dismay, I proudly say elephants are more than enough to complete my collection. Whenever I travel, if I can’t buy something expensive in the name of a souvenir, I get earrings. It was my Darjeeling trip where I saw the elephant earrings and fell for it.
If you ever plan to visit Dubare Elephant Camp, you should keep in mind the below points:
- The Dubare Elephant park is opened for elephant interaction
- Timings: (8. 30 AM – 11 AM & 4.30 PM – 5.30 PM).
- Reach early in the morning to avoid long queues for boats
- You can bathe the elephants with extra cash amounted coupon
- Carry cash and make sure you have change for using washrooms
- Get clicked with elephants with some extra cash amount
We were hungry after wandering around and looking at elephants in their most beautiful natural environment so we decided to eat lunch at one of the highest rated restaurants called “The Pop Up Box”. I ordered my staple food of gravy and bread. My friends had an awesome time ordering grilled fish which according to them was so good that they repeated the order.
The Pop Up Box did not just have wonderful food but a stock of homemade wines to choose from. It is a small place and you might wonder about the reasons for such a good rating on Google. The surprise came when the restaurant owner said he accepted online payment. His association with almost all payment wallets left us in peace to pick and pay. It is such a remote area in the lap of nature that online payments are just out of imagination.
