What is the JIRA Software?

JIRA is a popular Issue tracking tool by Atlassian. You can use JIRA to manage not only software development project but also any non IT project. Starting from JIRA 7 there are three versions – JIRA Core, JIRA Service Desk and JIRA Software.

JIRA Software: Used for Scrum and Kanban projects

JIRA Service Desk: Used for support and ticketing systems

JIRA Core: Non project that doesn’t fall in above two categories

The best thing about JIRA is that it is quite flexible and can be configured for several use cases but I would still like to highlight the main advantages of JIRA.

Apart from being one of the most sought after tool for issue tracking, there are several other applications from Atlassian that caters to different aspects of Software Development Lifecycle and all of those applications integrate really well with JIRA.
