Review on “The parable of pipeline”

When people say world is such a small place, they mean it. Coming across someone or rather something yet again in life is often seen as a coincidence. In the year 2015, I came across this book, “The parable of pipeline” at work. It was there on my desk for days but I didn’t really get time to read it through. I decided to get reviews on it from a friend. He was seemingly busy and told me that the topic was of least interest to him.

Last week while at work, I again found myself discussing a mysterious (He didn’t tell me the name of the book) book with a new colleague. He had read this book and completely believed in its teachings. He said he will hand over the book to me and that I will have to read it before reacting. This book of merely 120 pages got me to agree. Little did I know, it will be a reader’s treat.

Summarizing the book would be a total waste, hence I am reflecting upon the learning based on my experiences. Keep reading folks..

  “The parable of pipelines”

Reflection 1 – “Never take anything for granted”

I have seen myself taking people for granted and trust me that is not a good quality to hold on to. Sooner or later you might find yourself isolated. So, luckily for me these few people called friends stuck with me and they confronted me bluntly. When it comes to work front, make sure you are transparent with your team. At the end they will be the ones to guide you. The first dependency should always be on self discipline and contingency plans and your skills.

Reflection 2 – “Your pipelines are your lifelines”

To be honest here, your pipelines can be any financial asset or your trusted people. No matter what progress internet has made in the name of leverage today. It is the human beings that add life to many dreams. The internet survives on the traffic and that traffic is driven by algorithms designed by human beings. Ironically, the traffic is itself humans though both sides generate value in terms of fair eCommerce. “People + Skills” it is.

Reflection 3 – “How to become wealthy”

1440 minutes per day is what every human being has got. Yet some fly and some barely manage to drag themselves from one day to another. Dragging is not wrong but continuous thought on next move is all that is needed. A little break is what all deserve but a prolonged duration with procrastination is a way towards dead end. It was after four years of working, I met people doing double shifts working on their long term pipelines. They are the ones utilizing what everyone has and I am sure to see those on top of their games in future.

Reflection 4 – “The scale of 1:1 or 1: many”

You might be good at something because of your training. Have you tried your hands at something you are passionate to learn. I have and with time it became a part of my daily routine. Efforts and results go hand in hand. The more you research and make yourself involved in the process, the more better results you will reap. Human mind can put efforts in multiple directions at the same time and this is where 1: many ratio plays a crucial role.

Reflection 5 – “Life goes in cycle”

Each one of us go through the cycle of life filled with ups and downs. Yes the downs could be your lowest lows. Something that you never expected to experience. Something which you mishandled. Something which added imbalance in your life. Buck up folks. Tell yourself, it has happened and its gone now. What you have today demands you to stand up and walk towards your goal. Recall your confident self and plan to move ahead swiftly.

Reflection 6 – “Ecommerce and the human touch”

In an era of automation, machine learning and IoT, do we have a scope left for human intervention? Yes, we have. Technology and its impact on human life cannot be overlooked. The life of humans will become more comfortable thereby enabling them to pay attention on their living style and enjoying time experiencing newer things. Any business is well supported endlessly because of human intervention.

Reflection 7 – “Financial Independence and your choices”

The era of millennial filled with energy look forward to experiences which includes unexplored new things. Their research skills and time management has proven to be their greatest assets. Their vision to retire at 40 keeps them motivated and going. The realization that sacrifice today will result in long term benefits tomorrow is the key here.

Reflection 8 – “Right now is a bad time for me”

Is there any such thing as a perfect time. The brutal truth is “NO”. Your time is now. Procrastination has taken many people down with it in the past. Those who decide to be strict with themselves and who tell themselves daily “What is gone is gone” survives happily. The only thing they see is their aim. So right now is your best shot at your own betterment.
